The volunteer medics travel by foot and by boat to jungle encampments. They carry their supplies, food, clothing and medicines on a dangerous and risky journey.

Along the Thai-Burmese border, there are many refugees living in small encampments and villages in the jungles. The jungle is beautiful, but it is also very dangerous. A bite from a mosquito can leave you sick with malaria. A bite from a snake or an encounter with a soldier can mean death.

When the medics arrive in a village, the people begin to bring the sick to them for treatment. These small communities operate as extended families. Often the woman bringing a sick child to the medic is not the child's mother, but a neighbor or friend. Medics soon become an integral part of these communities.
